Uncanny Knick Knacks is a small handmade shop run by Hilary in Nevada. This page explains what information we collect when you visit hilshobbies.com, buy something or ask for a custom piece, and what we do with it. In short: we collect only what we need to make and ship your order, and we never sell it.
When you buy something
Checkout is handled by Stripe. You enter your payment details on Stripe's secure checkout page. We never see or store your full card number.
Stripe sends us your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, what you bought and the amount paid. We use these to pack and ship your order, to email you about it, and to keep the records a business must keep (for example, for taxes). Your phone number is used only for shipping, because some carriers require one on the label. We won't call or text you about anything else. Stripe's handling of your information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Custom order requests
When you send a custom order request, we receive your name, email address, your description and any budget, date or photos you include. Location and other hidden details are removed from photos when they're uploaded. Requests are stored privately and only Hilary can see them. We use them only to reply to you and make your piece.
If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you. Our email is hosted by Proton.
Visit statistics
We count visits in a privacy-friendly way, without cookies and without storing IP addresses. Each visit is recorded with a code that changes every day, so the same visitor can't be recognised from one day to the next. We also note the page viewed, the site that linked to us, your country and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer. These counts are kept for up to 400 days. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, your visits aren't counted at all.
Cookies and browser storage
This site doesn't set cookies for visitors. Your browser remembers your light or dark theme choice and the contents of your cart, but that stays on your device and isn't sent to us until you check out. Stripe's checkout page may use its own cookies, for example to prevent fraud.
Who else handles your information
- Stripe processes payments.
- Cloudflare delivers and protects this website, and so handles visitors' IP addresses as traffic passes through (Cloudflare Privacy Policy).
- Proton hosts our email.
- Shipping carriers (such as USPS, UPS or FedEx) receive your name, address and phone number so they can deliver your order.
We don't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles of you. We don't run ads or use third-party trackers.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, usually up to seven years. Custom order requests are kept while we're working with you, and we delete them on request after that. Visit statistics are deleted after 400 days.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some order details where the law requires it.
Nevada residents may ask us not to sell their personal information. We don't sell personal information, but you're welcome to send that request to the same address.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
